10 years in the making…
We met at Southern Utah University during the spring semester 2010. Lexi’s roommate was dating Zach’s roommate, which is how we initially met. We became really good friends, the sparks flew, but the semester ended and Zach left for a mission to Seoul, South Korea while Lexi went back to SUU and we fell out of touch.
Fast forward to June 2013 when said roommates ended up getting married. Lexi went to their reception with a bunch of her roommates and who decides to show up? Zachary! Lexi almost didn’t recognize him due to the fact that he grew about 2 feet taller and was basically a giant. Zach says the only reason he showed up was because he knew Lexi would be there. (Cue the ahhhs). We chatted and caught up with each other and ended up talking all the time. Lexi was living in Cedar City that summer working on an internship and Zach ended up moving down there again in July to start school again. We ended up hanging out all the time and became best friends. We never actually dated, just stayed really close friends.
Lexi graduated in 2014 and moved back to Salt Lake so it was harder to keep in touch. A couple years later, we started talking regularly again and yet again the sparks flew, so we decided to try this out! We officially started dating in 2016. ABOUT TIME. Zach was still living and working in Cedar City, while Lexi was in Salt Lake. It was a long distance relationship until Zach graduated in 2018. One year later Zach proposed! One year after that, we set a wedding date, got hit with a pandemic, postponed our wedding, had a mini ceremony on May 25, 2020, and are now FINALLY celebrating our marriage with you!
THE
PROPOSAL
Father’s Day weekend 2019, Zach and Lexi went on a weekend trip to Capitol Reef with Zach’s family. On one of the days, we took a day trip to Goblin Valley, UT. We had hiked around and explored for quite awhile until Zach wanted to take some pictures. Unbeknownst to Lexi, Zach had been hiking around with a ring in his pocket the whole time.
